Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if you can’t see baby’s face?

Our experienced sonographers will always try to obtain the best images possible of your baby, however there are many factors than can affect the quality of face imaging. These can include things such as baby’s position, maternal body habitus, and the amount of fluid around the baby. If we are unable to obtain baby’s face on the day, we may send you for a walk or offer you a rescan for another appointment at no extra charge. In the rare event that we cannot see any part of baby’s face, we will offer you a reduced fee.

Do I need a full bladder?

For any scans between 10-20 weeks, we would ask you to have a full bladder to help with the viewing of your baby. From 20 weeks onwards, it’s not essential for you to have a full bladder, but it is often helpful to still have a little bit in there - even just for the fact it’s something that we can empty in an attempt to help move an uncooperative baby! Also, a well hydrated mum improves the chances of better images.

How many people can I bring?

Under normal circumstances, we are happy for you to bring as many people as you would like. With current COVID-19 circumstances, this is something that is continually changing, so when making your appointment we will inform you of our current policy.
